PolyBag manufactures high-quality packaging materials at our plastic manufacturing facilities in Chloorkop, Kempton park. Owing to our flexographic printing methods (rather than the less-effective, lithography printing) and our manufacturing techniques we are able to achieve a far quicker turnaround time than our competitors.

With numerous materials, blends and additives at our disposable, as well as quality and reliable machinery, PolyBag has fast become a leading plastics manufacturer in the South African flexible plastic manufacturing industry.
The extrusion process is the first step in creating the quality end plastic product our clients have come to expect:
Raw materials are put into a hopper.
A barrel and screw rotates at high temperatures melting and pushing molten resins towards a die housed in an extruder head and    ring section.
Air is blown into molten film to form a plastic bubble up to the size of the product required.
Nips - these rollers squash your plastic film together to make it into a sheet.
Treater - these machines discharge electric current so that one can print on the plastic film after it has been extruded.
Winders - these machines split the tube into two rolls of plastic and wind them up, ready for the next process.
Computer - a computer provides, speed control, temperature gauges and diagnostic measurements.

After extrusion, the plastic is ready for the printing step in the manufacturing process.

Flexographic printing process

The process of flexographic printing is the most effective printing method one can use on any flexible plastic products and this is why we employ it in our flexible plastics manufacturing process.
Combining our vast experience and high quality equipment with our staff's dedicated approach to successfully applying their excellent skills set to our plastic printing service, Poly Bag strives to bring your branding dreams to life in our manufaturing and printing process:
The image is transferred to a photopolymer plate and placed on a cylinder to match the pitch of your design.
The print roller is adjusted to 'kiss' the anilox roller which picks up a desired amount of ink for application and then ink is    transferred onto the plate.
The roller now rotates the plate against the impression and the image is created.

Benefits of flexographic printing
The benefits of flexographic printing over other printing methods are:
• Wider range of inks, such as water-based rather than oil-based.
• Better at printing on a wider variety of materials.
• Inks used in flexography have low viscosity meaning faster drying meaning faster delivery, therefore lower costs than other   
  printing methods.
• Printing speeds of up to 800m per minute are possible.

After printing comes the processes of slitting and bag making.

Slitting and bag-making

The plastic reel is cut into several reels of specified widths which then go through the process of bag making. There are several seal types which will be used according to the different requirements of the finished product.
